I really want to learn the guitar but I am sooo impatient and I tried to learn from books but I really don’t understand what they are talking about whereas my friend, who I gave the book to, got it straight away and learned a lot in the first week. What’s wrong with me??

  2. Steve Vestel says:

So Justin I want to thank you with all my heart for doing this for US the Beginners and doing it for free.

  3. Steve Vestel says:

Ok here it goes. I am 43 years of age and I am beginning to learn how to play the guitar. I just wish I had the internet when I was like 10 years old but the internet wasn’t around in 1980. If we had the internet then I would be taking these lessons that Justin was so gracious to put up on Youtube. My goal is to be the next Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and Herman Li. And as soon as I get enough money together I am going to by myself and Ibanez Saber.

  4. standel178 says:

  8. TooPro ToKnife says:

I’m just curious, but I was wondering about what kind of level I would be able to play at after about a year of playing the guitar, while following Justin’s videos? (assuming that you don’t slack off and stick with it)

  9. DarkFusionGames says:

Awsome, i’m 14! :D Take that brother! (My brother is 19.)

  10. weatherwings says:

he said it’s easier to pick up under 15… it’s easier to learn while you are young

  11. Tempestni02 says:

Great work and great to watch looks alot easier the way you teach it. I’m about to pick up an electric guitar more or less for the first time to learn. I’m a quick learner with most things i apply myself to and have a good ear for music but to be honest my age is kinda putting me off I’m 38 and only beginning now, can’t afford the 1970 Gibson SG for that epic rock sound so settling for a Epiphone SG and Marshall Amp. Any advice would be great Justin, thx :)

  12. nevmiles says:

At the tender age of 34, I have FINALLY decided to take up guitar after having wanted to learn for a long time now. It’s been a bit daunting for the first week or so. I still can’t fathom how people can play so easily, changing from note to note and getting all the chords correct, and how you KNOW what chord to play if you’re thinking of a tune in your head. But, as with anything, I’m sure with a lot of practice I will be playing songs in no time!

Your first videos have really helped! Thanks.

  13. Bhawna03 says:

When he said that “if you’re under 15, it will generally take longer to pick up”, I’ve never been happier in my life to be 16…hahahaha XD

  14. FutrPilotFilms says:

Justin today I held a guitar for the first time in my life, and the CD that came with it was broke. So I ran across you in what I thought would be a failed attempt at finding tutorials, and you took me from knowing absolutely nothing to remembering the string names, knowing what a fret is, and being able to play Cords D, E, and A lol.

Your vidoes are awesome and extremely helpful and entertaining! Keep up the good work!

  15. April Pineda says:

you!! You are very awsome dude!!

  16. John Thompson says:

I was wondering if you were planning on doing johnny cash’s orange blossom special. Since I am learning your lesson of Folsom Prison blues. What a great job you do on your videos they are very very step by step which makes it so easy to learn. thank you

  17. AaronIsYoutubing says:

  18. fatman225588 says:

I’ve just started playing recently and this has been the most motivational relaxed funny lesson in learning guitar I have seen. Also one of the first I’ve seen though, but it’s great and I defiantly plan on working through with these videos. Thank you much for your work!

  19. rgsam75 says:

As a beginner guitar player, I feel as if I won the lottery by finding your website! I’m so impressed with the time, effort and passion you put into sharing your art. By breaking it down into manageable bits, you’ve made learning guitar seem much more tangible. Plus you’re too cute ;D Rock on, man!

  20. Naveen Kumar Nowle says:

I have just started … Basics …I shall follow now ….Thanks…

  21. misscelineangela says:

  23. FReeARouND1992 says:

I think it’s better if you can make a donation to him :)

  24. neethushavc88 says:

Hey Justin, I started off with your guitar lessons- last week actually. I thought it was too late to learn any instrument. I do small gigs around where I live. I am just a vocalist and I realized how much I could improve learning an instrument. So I have picked up a guitar and started going through your videos here. You are a great teacher. Once I can play something, I will dedicate one song to you;a video!(Though I don’t know whether that would take weeks or months) wish me luck! :-)

  25. amerraja says:

    u r teacher no.1 justin…greattttttttttttt work……..

  26. tnz5106 says:

Great acoustic lesson but if you are trying to teach any of Scotty’s licks they are wrong. Scotty works off an open E chord and after the initial solo he goes to a D7 on the 5th fret. I love this video so don’t take me wrong, but you might want to take another look at the sit down section of the ’68 TV Special………thanks

  27. james snelling says:

like the way you play elvis presley songs can you tell me the chords to i beg of you by elvispresley he done it in the 50s i hope you can help me.

  28. John Centorrino says:

love your stuff but you mentioned a looper. How do I get one and how much are they?

  29. sosti says:

How many guitars do you have? You play an awesome guitar on each diffrent lesson :)

  30. Elnur huseynzade says:

  31. yourguitarsage says:

Thank you my friend! Yes. yourguitarsage(dot)com and unstoppableguitarsystem(dot)com

  32. Janet Polanco says:

Awesome! You really break it down very easy. Any other site you recommend?

  33. crazymetalheadne says:

You break things down real nice. I know minimal music theory and I understand keeping count and accentuating on certain beats but I have never been able to count out loud while doing so, or sing along with my playing. As soon as I start to talk or sing while playing it throws me way off. Any pointers?

  34. kennkweder125 says:

    cool

  35. Peter Henson says:

you’re lesson’s are great and i can really play these songs now that you have explained for simple, and i have a request if you could do a video of how to play blue moon of kentucky by Elvis because all the other videos on the net are rubbish.
    thanks

  36. Linas Jarmulka says:

I gotta admit that song is really awesome, but c’mon… It’s just too easy. There are basically 6 chords and the only harder part is to arpeggiate the first two strings of each chord during the verse, I believe. Just listen to it a bit, this way you’ll get two birds in one shot – learn the song AND develop your hearing.

  37. XxXlauchaXxX says:

can you make a tutorial for Flightles Bird American Mouth?

  38. mertles02 says:

I love your direct style and approach, it cuts out a lot of the BS that you get in guitar mags and various DVD’s and gets right to the heart of what’s fun about playing the guitar and music, all whilst still being thorough. Is that what you intended, did you sit and think about the best way to teach or are you just naturally good at teaching?

  39. Marie11Noel says:

Could you do a tutorial of Hurt by Johnny Cash? That song is so inspirational :)

  40. wedontknowone1 says:

    sweet!

  41. Mire Shen says:

    Thank you!

  42. Skidawg53 says:

I love this song, thanks for doing this, always wanted to learn
