The Kramer vintage arrived in perfect shape. The finish was flawless and the honey burst finish looked stunning to say the least. It was still in tune out of the box. The pickup where great clean and coil tapped. The floyd stayed in-tune pretty much perfectly without a problem. I did tons of dive booms and abused it but it stayed in tune like a beast. Thats when the honeymoon ended.

    Problems with the Vintage Kramer

    1) Lacked harmonics and sustain. This is the reason I sent the guitar back. Even my chinese squier strat had more harmonic than this guitar. Also notes die off all most instantly (and I don’t mean compared to a super gain metal guitar like an ibanez. It had the wost natural sustain I have ever heard. Compared to a squier or an epi les paul or any guitar it just sucked. If I would use this guitar with the floyd guess what I would want to do? Van Halen and metal stuff like vai or satch but without harmonic or sustain how can you do that stuff?

    2) Its heavy. When I got this I was expecting it to be a super strat not a brick. This thing weighs more than my 8.7 pound Epiphone Les Paul. I’m a skinny teenager who plays monthly gig. So light is a must with any guitars for me and man is this guitar heavy. Its at least 9 pounds.

    3) Uncomfortable neck. I own 7 guitars currently 4 of which are electric and have tried countless guitars in my 5 years of playing and this is one of the most Uncomfortable neck I have played. The neck isn’t to thick or to thin it just doesn’t fell right. The string tension is always super high even with light strings. When the action is set right there is a little fret buzz.

All in all this is one of the most over priced guitars on the market. The thing just sucks for classic 80s metal and thats what I would have used it for.
